About the Event
The team will be based in Narol Wies, Poland about 25 miles from the Western border of the Ukraine. Volunteers from this town have been working to support the Ukrainian refugees and those remaining in the Ukraine since the beginning of the invasion.
While the situation is fluid and could change prior to our arrival, generally, the team members will be involved in organizing supplies, helping to fill orders from within the Ukraine, packing the orders into trucks and SUVs and in some cases assisting with the delivery. There are homes for the elderly and disabled which receive some of these deliveries and may be on the list when the team is present.
Should the need in Narol Wies be light, the team will be utilized in other locations to provide whatever support is needed. This may include similar work with supplies, cooking food, aiding with child care, etc. There will certainly be opportunity to pray with and comfort people. There will be volunteers who will assist with translation when needed.
Our board member, Jeanie Gorski, has relatives in this town and is aware that small villages like this do not get a lot of support. The volunteers have been working very hard since early February and need support as this situation has no end is sight (yet we pray daily for peace). Your efforts are very much needed and the Polish team is very happy that VIM will be sending a team in June and one in the fall.
Each team will gather supplies/donations to bring with them and will most likely make some in-country purchases. You should expect to work each day and will have a portion of a day for touring Krakow at the end of the trip. You will make a difference. The trip cost will depend largely on airfare and in-country transportation. As of May 12, the June trip is costing out at $1500 for airfare, in-country transportation, food and lodging. The September trip is expected to be at least $1500. September departure date for a 10-day mission trip will be between September 16 and 18 (looking for best flight costs).
Please email Carmen Mailloux (June team leader) and Jeanie Gorski (Fall team leader) at office.admin@vimissions.com to express your interest. They will share their contact info with you and coordinate a team meeting accordingly.
God bless your willingness to help. Should you decide not to make the trip, you can still participate by assisting with donations and contributing in some other way.
