We have hope for the children

at the TiPalmiste Children's Home,

LaGonave, Haiti.

Won't you join in providing a promising

future for the children.

In 2011, Vision International Missions (VIM) accepted a leading role in the establishment, management and funding for the TiPalmiste Children’s Home (TCH) on the island of LaGonave, Haiti.   Pastor Samuel Merisier provided land next to Bethel Church where the initial building to house the children and subsequent buildings for a dining room, administration, etc. were erected.  Pastor Samuel also assisted in many of the early developmental needs of this endeavor.

This was the first and only time that VIM parted from its usual role of supporting missionaries on the ground in foreign locations.  We were now playing a direct role in a foreign location.  It was new ground for us and  VIM was eager to provide options for children who had no caring adult in their life and eager to create a sustainable residence.

Shortly after TCH was opened, Melissa Langley (supported by her home church Shiloh Community Church) moved to Haiti to manage TCH.  When she and Lender Saint Cyr married, Lender joined in the management of TCH.

Effective January 1, 2020, Melissa and Lender will absorb all responsibilities related to TCH including fundraising, curriculum development, vocational training and transitional support as the children complete high school.  According to Haitian Law, once a child reaches the age of 18, they may not remain in a children's home/orphanage.  TCH is determined to see these children through high school graduation plus two years so that they have all the training and life experience needed to be successful.  The Saint Cyrs now have seven years foundational experience which will serve them well as independent missionaries.

VIM will remain engaged in sending teams to TiPalmiste, accomplishing projects through the teams and being available for counsel as needed by the Saint Cyrs.   VIM will receive updates and will monitor the transition to ensure its success.  Until the Saint Cyrs have received their 501©3 designation from the IRS, VIM will continue to accept donations on behalf of TCH and forward those funds to the Saint Cyrs.

We ask that you pray for the Saint Cyrs in their continued efforts in Haiti to be leaders of change in their community and the parenting responsibilities inherent in managing a children’s home.

The cost of meeting all the children's needs averages $150 per month per child.   The monthly support covers food, clothing, shelter, TCH staff, hygiene and cleaning supplies and basic medical care.  Currently, TCH has no funds available for special treats like trips to the beach or to cover unexpected repairs and expenses.

If TCH were fully sponsored, there would be no need for special fundraising during the year for school uniforms or to cover emergency medical needs.

There are currently 21 children between TCH and the Transitional Home for those children who have reached the age of 18.  Your monthly donation would provide additional financial stability and security for TCH.
